Contemporary Glass Box Extension for a Grade II Listed Property
Morph Interior designed a striking contemporary glass box extension for the rear of a Grade II listed property. Initially, we anticipated challenges with planning and conservation officers, as modern additions are often seen as conflicting with the historic character of such buildings.
However, through collaborative discussions, the planners embraced the proposal’s transparent and innovative approach. Instead of mimicking the original structure, the glass extension stands as a distinct, lightweight addition that complements the historic architecture.
This design not only respects the property’s heritage but also tells the story of its evolution. By clearly showcasing the timeline of change, the extension demonstrates how the building has adapted to modern living needs while preserving its historic significance.
